The history of Vlethwëin
For a long time, only little was known about the mysterious world of Vlethwëin. Only a few who had once set out came back to the known world. Va'ariel is a small island in the world of Vlethwëin. It was discovered in the year 628 A.D. (according to our calendar) by the first arrivals who came to Vlethwëin through the energy gate.
Chronology of Vlethwëin
About 1400 years ago the first people from our world came to the world of Vlethwëin. They stranded on the uninhabited island of Va'ariel. It was beautiful and peaceful. On the island they found several places of special energies and first scholars studied their powers and possibilities.
The scholars found out that there was an age before the first humans, but little is known about these natives. Only a few excavation sites have been discovered so far on the island of Va'ariel and the mainland of Vlethwëin, one dates the remains of this culture to an age of over 10,000 years ago. What is noticeable about the locations is that they were always found in the vicinity of places of energy.
About 900 years ago, more and more scholars managed to extract the energies from the places of energy and thus were able to use minor spells.
They founded the faith community of the two powers of the world - the Goddess of Light and the Goddess of Darkness - many renounced Christianity, which had come with them from our world to the world of Vlethwëin.
More and more people from our known world came to Vlethwëin and the first ones moved to the large land area east of the island.
In 627 p.A. (=post adventum = after the arrival of the first settlers) Dorendo from Varen appointed himself king of Va'ariel and founded the city of Varengrad on the western shore of the island.
In 736 p.A. the seat of the king of Va'ariel was transferred to the mainland of Vlethwëin and Va'ariel was established as a new duchy.
Since 737 p.A. beginning of the age of Pacificae Civitatis (the peaceful community - of all faiths, people, professions etc.)
People
The inhabitants of Vlethwëin are an open, tolerant, joyful and capable people. Since only a few know and survive the crossing, the inhabitants are happy about new people coming to Va'ariel.
From region to region, of course, the minds of the residents are a little different. In Varengrad, for example, there is always a lot of activity and people there always have "no time". In the villages, people are a little more cozy and devout. Many people who still believe in the old faith live in the villages. Especially in the fishing villages on the coasts, many old people live, and their minds have adapted to the harsh conditions of nature.
In Oclaïre, however, live many free spirits, artists, but also most of the rich people of Va'ariel. The mood is relaxed and comfortable, the inhabitants are laid-back, like to party and indulge in the pleasures of life.
In Easthaven, the port town east on the island, people are all friendly and help each other. All the inhabitants of the town work hard and in the evening they gather and spend the evening together.
Religion of Vlethwëin
About 900 years ago scholars were able to use minor spells. In the places of energy, two powers revealed themselves to them: the power of darkness and the power of light. They founded the faith community of the two powers of the world - the Goddess of Light and the Goddess of Darkness - many renounced Christianity, which had come with them from our world to the world of Vlethwëin.
Both gods are of equal value, because the inhabitants of Leithwein believe that the true nature of life can be achieved only by balancing darkness and light.
Goddess of Light stands for: Birth, life, goodness, laughter, music, art, tolerance, openness and knowledge.
Goddess of Darkness stands for: Of death, betrayal, sorrow, anger, jealousy and envy.
In the beginning there were many conflicts between the two religions. Followers of the old faith wanted to defend it, but many changed to the faith of the new gods. For about 400 years, however, both religions have existed peacefully.
